Short Term To-Do List

January 10, 2009

TweetByMail is brand new, so there’s much to be done. Here’s a list of things right around the corner. We’re not talking months… all this will be in a matter of days. Awesome!

New commands planned:

  • off/on - The ability to pause or resume the stream of tweets going to your inbox. We all need to sleep sometime. DONE!
  • dm - Direct messaging.
  • test - a simple command to issue a response… just to test that it’s all working DONE!
  • undo - Delete the most recent tweet that you sent through TweetByMail. (handy for when you mis-spell a command) DONE!

New features coming:

Actually, the big thing is the features that currently exist, but right now don’t have any way to manage them (or even turn them on) through the website. The primary thing (ie: schedule to do this evening) is managing your incoming twitter stream. basically DONE! (using the on/off command)

Also, there is currently no mention of the TW2.ca short email service… which I put into place when I realized the length of the TO: email address was being subtracted from my allowed message length. These super-short addresses help maximize the message. DONE!

As I said, these are things that will be arriving over the next few days. So I better get back to work!

  1. Hmmm … I have just signed on and I like very your service very much. I could not do twitter effectively otherwise since I am living in the United Arab Emirates.

    Thank you very much.

I have a suggestion for a new feature, though: Attach an image to a twitter post e-mail to tweetbyemail and it gets posted on twitpic.

Nothing fancy: one image per e-mail, image size not bigger than 640×480, 800×600 or max. 1024×768 in horizontal or vertical and JPEG only. If it does not fit, discard with error e-mail feedback.

Just so that one can post a pic every now and then (like when one finds a plane in a river or such …)

    What do you think ?

    Best Regards,
